Common faults we fix

What's gone wrong behind the bar?

Three symptoms that empty a venue fast — with what they usually mean and what the callout involves.

Warm or foamy beer

Pints pouring warm and all head is the classic sign the glycol isn't holding temperature down the line. Usually a glycol chiller that's lost charge or has a dirty condenser, a failed circulation pump, or poor insulation on the python run. We find where the cold is being lost and fix it, not just bleed the lines.

Glycol chiller not cooling

The bath is warm and the whole system's drifting up. Often a low refrigerant charge from a slow leak, a blocked condenser running the head pressure up, a failed compressor or contactor, or a control fault. As ARC licence holders we leak-detect, repair and recharge to spec rather than just topping it up.

Frozen lines or iced bath

A bath running too cold ices up the agitator and can freeze product lines, stopping the pour entirely. Typically a thermostat or controller fault, a weak glycol mix that's lost its anti-freeze protection, or a stuck circulation pump. We test the controls and the glycol concentration and get the temperature back into range.

A beer system is one part of a venue's refrigeration. For the broader fit-out, see how we look after pubs, bars & clubs. After-hours during an event? Use our 24/7 breakdown service.

What we cover

The whole cold-beer system

From the keg room to the font, every part that keeps a pour cold and clean — installed, repaired and serviced for Sydney venues.

  • Glycol chillers & cooling baths
  • Glycol circulation pumps & agitators
  • Python & trunk line cooling
  • Keg-room & cellar cooling
  • Font & tap-tower chilling
  • Remote & under-bar beer systems
  • Glycol top-ups & concentration checks
  • Condenser cleans & pressure checks

We work on the refrigeration side of the system — the chiller, pumps and cooling. Cleaning and replacing the product lines themselves is usually your beverage supplier's line-cleaning service; we'll point you the right way if that's the issue.

FAQ

Beer & glycol system questions

Why is my beer pouring warm or foamy?
Warm, foamy pours almost always mean the glycol cooling isn't holding temperature down the line. The usual causes are a glycol chiller that's lost charge or has a dirty condenser, a failed circulation pump, a weak glycol mix, or poor insulation on the python run. We find where the cold is being lost and fix the cause, not just the symptom.
Can you repair a glycol chiller that isn't cooling?
Yes. A glycol chiller is a refrigeration unit, so we diagnose it the same way — gauges, electrical, airflow. Common faults are a low charge from a slow leak, a blocked condenser, a failed compressor or contactor, or a control fault. As ARC licence holders (L057415) we leak-detect, repair and recharge to the manufacturer's weight rather than just topping up gas.
Do you come out after hours for events?
Yes — a warm-beer failure mid-event is exactly the kind of breakdown our 24/7 line is for. Tell us your suburb and what's happening when you call and we'll give you an honest arrival window. See our 24/7 breakdown service for how it works.
Do you clean the beer lines as well?
We look after the refrigeration side — the glycol chiller, pumps, line cooling and keg-room cooling. Routine cleaning and replacement of the product lines themselves is usually handled by your beverage supplier's line-cleaning service. If a line problem is causing your fault, we'll tell you and point you the right way.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. We hold an ARC Refrigerant Handling Licence (L057415), an NSW contractor licence (330089C), and we're an ASSA member, fully insured and an Australian business since 2013 (ABN 90 166 129 102).
