Air conditioning questions, answered

Ducted or split — which is cheaper to run?

It depends on how you use the space. A split system cooling one room is usually the cheaper choice for a single area, while a well-zoned ducted system can be more efficient when you're conditioning a whole home or floor and only running the zones in use. Sizing and zoning matter more than the type — we can advise for your space when you book.

Should I repair or replace my air conditioner?

It depends on the age, the fault and the running cost. As a rough guide, if a repair is more than about half the price of a new unit and the system is past 10–15 years, replacement is often the better spend. We give you honest advice and won't push a new system you don't need. See our air conditioning repairs page for common faults.

How often should air conditioning be serviced?

Once a year is a sensible minimum, and twice a year for hard-working commercial systems. Daikin, for example, recommends servicing at least annually, and many manufacturer warranties require annual maintenance by a licensed contractor. Regular air conditioning servicing keeps airflow strong, bills lower and the warranty valid.

Do you work on both commercial and residential air conditioning?

Are you licensed for air conditioning work?

Yes — we hold NSW contractor licence 330089C for air conditioning and ARC Refrigerant Handling Licence L057415, and we're an ASSA member. Refrigerant is recovered and handled correctly, which is both a legal requirement and better for the equipment.
